How we design living rooms

The living room is now a multifunctional space – it serves for relaxation, meeting, work and entertainment. In most homes, it is also connected to the kitchen area, so it is a place to cook, eat and spend time together. That’s why it’s important to plan everything carefully, so that the different functions don’t overlap but complement each other. No wonder that living room designs are among the most frequent requests of our clients.

Every living room design is prepared to make the space both aesthetic and practical:

This creates a living room that is easy to live in every day.

Design of a living room with a kitchenette: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to design a living room?

Usually 5 – 6 weeks for smaller flats, approximately 1 – 2 months for larger projects. The exact time depends on the scope, speed of approval and availability of contractors.

Basic proposal from 500 CZK/m². Complete design with documents for implementation 800-1 200 CZK/m². For a more accurate price, please contact us. online calculator.

Start with a layout plan: identify the main zones (cooking, dining, relaxing). Choose furniture so that it looks light and does not block the view through the space. A uniform colour and material scheme is important.

For visual separation, islands, bar counters, different floors or zonal lighting work well. This maintains airiness, but also gives the space a natural division.

Use a uniform palette for both spaces – for example, a neutral base complemented by an accent colour in textiles or accessories. Light tones will visually enlarge the space, while darker tones will create a cosier atmosphere.

Link them by repeating materials and details – e.g. the same colour of doors and furniture elements, the same type of handles, flooring or light fittings. Stylistically coordinated spaces have a calmer feel.

Combine multiple sources: overhead lighting for overall brightness, spotlights above the kitchen, pendant lights above the dining table and mood lamps in the living room. It is important to have separate controls for each zone.

Once the drawings are approved, the kitchen or furniture is usually manufactured in 6-8 weeks, with assembly following within the agreed timeframe.

Choose a smaller sofa table or bar counter that can also serve as a work surface. Position it so it doesn’t obstruct the passageway, ideally on the boundary between the kitchen and living area.

A taller screen or half-wall behind the worktop, quick-closing cabinets and a clever system of storage organisers will help. A neat and tidy space always looks neater.

Start with the floor plan: place the kitchen against the wall with the wiring, the living area against the windows. It is important to respect the lighting conditions, maintain logical movement in the space and design enough storage zones.
